Suspected DUI Collision Injures Three in Antioch

I’m Ed Smith, a Car Accident Lawyer in Antioch. Recently a woman was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing into another car in Antioch. A total of three people were injured in the process. All three people had to be hospitalized for their injuries. The full story is covered below.

Two-Car Accident on 18th and D Street

A female driving a white Acura on D Street in Antioch was traveling northbound along the road when she hit the passenger side of a gray BMW which was heading east down 18th Street. Upon impact, the BMW eventually crashed into a tree.  The collision caused extensive damage to the BMW. The intersection was sprayed with shattered glass and broken vehicle parts.

Children Injured and Airlifted for Treatment

Everyone inside the BMW was injured to some extent, although the intensity of their injuries is currently unknown. The three occupants of the car included two young girls and a middle-aged man. One girl had been trapped inside the wrecked car and could not remove herself from the vehicle. It took Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters approximately 20 minutes to extricate the girl. Both girls were transported from the site of the accident via medical helicopter.

One of the juvenile girls was transferred to the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital located in Oakland, California. The other female was hospitalized at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The owner of the BMW, a 35-year old male, was transported by ambulance to Walnut Creek’s John Muir Medical Center.

A Woman Was Arrested on Suspicion of Driving Drunk

The Acura driver refused medical care after the collision. Officers from the Antioch Police Department arrested her at the scene on suspicion of a DUI. The Antioch police are still investigating the cause of the motor vehicle accident.
